The RTITB Counterbalance Forklift Truck (Refresher) Course is designed for qualified operators who require refresher training to maintain safe operating standards and remain compliant with current workplace legislation and RTITB recommendations.

Delivered in person at our training centre, this course refreshes existing operator knowledge and practical skills, reinforcing safe working practices and updating candidates on current industry guidance and legislation.

Upon successful completion, candidates will demonstrate continued competence in operating a counterbalance forklift truck safely and efficiently within the workplace.

This course is held in our Training Centre in Linwood, near Paisley but we can also come to your place of work on request.

Prerequisites

This course is intended for previously trained and certified operators. Candidates should:

  • Hold previous forklift certification or have evidence of formal training
  • Certificate must be valid or expired within 1 year of training date
  • Have practical experience operating a counterbalance forklift truck
  • Be of school leaving age
  • Be physically fit and capable of safely operating machinery
  • Have a basic understanding of English for safety and assessment purposes
  • Have access to an email address

What's Involved

This course provides refresher training on essential forklift operating skills, safety awareness, and best practice procedures.

  • 1-day practical, in-person refresher training course

  • Training delivered in line with RTITB standards and current legislation

Assessment

To successfully complete the course, candidates must pass the following RTITB assessments:

Theory Test

  • Multiple-choice questions assessing current knowledge of forklift safety and operation

Pre-Use Inspection Test

  • Demonstration of correct pre-operational checks and safety procedures

Practical Driving Test

  • Assessment of safe operating ability, including manoeuvring, load handling, stacking, and workplace safety awareness

All assessments are conducted in line with RTITB accreditation requirements.
