This is an option to extend the course duration to 10 days to allow more training time if the candidate requires. This course is based out of our Training Centre in Linwood, near Paisley.

Description

The Car to C+E (HGV Class 1) Driver Training Course is designed for drivers who hold a full UK car licence and want to gain the qualifications and practical skills required to operate articulated heavy goods vehicles professionally and safely.

This is an option to extend the course duration to 10 days to allow more training time if the candidate requires.

Delivered by qualified instructors, this practical training course prepares candidates for the DVSA Category C+E driving test and provides the knowledge, confidence, and driving ability needed to work within the transport and logistics industry.

Upon successful completion, candidates will be qualified to drive Category C+E vehicles, opening opportunities for employment within the haulage, logistics, and transport sectors.

This course is based out of our Training Centre in Linwood, near Paisley.

Prerequisites

To enrol on this course, candidates must:

  • Hold a full UK Category B (car) driving licence
  • Meet DVLA medical requirements for HGV drivers
  • Have obtained provisional Category C+E entitlement
  • Hold a valid HGV theory test pass where required
  • Be physically fit and capable of operating large vehicles safely
  • Have a basic understanding of English for safety and assessment purposes
  • Have access to an email address

This course combines theory preparation, vehicle safety awareness, and practical driving instruction to ensure candidates develop the skills required to safely operate articulated HGV vehicles.

Assessment

To successfully complete the course, candidates must pass the following DVSA assessments:

Vehicle Safety Questions

  • Demonstration of knowledge relating to vehicle safety checks and driver responsibilities (Show me tell me questions)

Off-Road Exercises

  • Reversing exercise assessment
  • Coupling and uncoupling procedure assessment

Practical Driving Test

  • DVSA on-road driving assessment covering safe driving practices, hazard awareness, vehicle control, and road compliance

Candidates may also require completion of the relevant theory and CPC requirements depending on licence route and intended use.
